Having first verified that you are a suitable candidate for our teeth whitening procedure, your dentist in our Waterford clinic then follow up by taking impressions of your upper and lower teeth. We send these impressions to the laboratory and have two trays made – one for your upper teeth and one for your lower. At the next visit, we fit these trays and supply you with the whitening gel with instructions on how to use it.
Is Teeth Whitening Safe?
Although whitening or bleaching may sometimes cause the teeth to become sensitive, it is safe. As always care should always be taken to use chemicals safely and correctly.
How long does the teeth whitening process take?
All teeth are different and will bleach to greater or lesser extents. Some teeth take longer than others. The home kit allows for this and people can bleach for shorter or longer amounts of time. One-hour periods per day are used commonly and continued until the person is satisfied with the result.

How Long Does The Whitening Effect Last?
Again, this varies with people but most boost the whitening every 6-8 weeks Does this treatment damage the teeth? Bleaching causes colour to lighten and this happens by chemically changing the outer surface layer of the enamel of the teeth. The surface layer does repair over time and the whitening needs to be repeated.
